# Welcome aboard

Thanks for coming to Recipes for Disaster. The world is in chaos, so you need a cookie. I've been writing about food, cooking, and cookbooks since 2008, for newspapers and for the cookbook indexing website Eat Your Books (now [CookShelf](https://www.cookshelf.app/?ref=recipes-for-disaster.ghost.io)). This site is for the content that doesn't make to those outlets. You'll find musings about cookbooks; food news tidbits; the intersections between food, culture, and politics; and the occasional original recipe. 

Since I know everyone is subscribed to the hilt, this site will always have a healthy portion of free content (for now, that means everything). I hope you will consider [subscribing](#/portal/) to stay up to date and receive emails when new content is published. I will write as the muse moves me, hopefully 3-4 times per week. Stay tuned because more content is on the way!
