About this site

Hi, I'm Darcie B. and this is my personal newsletter, Recipes for Disaster. With the world in chaos, we all need a cookie – and someone to share it with. I've been writing about food, cooking, and cookbooks since 2008, for newspapers and for the cookbook indexing website Eat Your Books (now CookShelf). This site is for the content that doesn't make to those outlets. You'll find musings about cookbooks; food news tidbits; the intersections between food, culture, and politics; and the occasional original recipe.

A little more about me: I live near Minneapolis, Minnesota and like most freelance writers, I have a full-time day job. For me that is being an investigator focusing on the areas of consumer protection and fraud. All content that I post here contains my personal opinions and viewpoint and does not represent the views of my employer.

Since I know everyone is subscribed to the hilt, this site will always have a healthy portion of free content (for the time being, it's all free!). I hope you will consider subscribing to stay up to date and receive emails when new content is published. I will write as the muse moves me, hopefully 3-4 times per week.
